Ref.: Has clofazimine resistance seen to develop in a patient?
From: Grace Warren, Sidney , Australia
Dear Salvatore,
Another letter talking about clofazimine resistance (thank you to Dr Kar for his contribution dated LML Sept. 28th, 2010). I was using clofazimine for many years, including the original trials. I have asked many time if any patient has ever been found to develop clofazimine resistance? Yes I know that some resistant strains have been developed in mice (I think it was mice) but clofazimine itself?
Yes, I know it was over 10 years before dapsone resistance was proven and, that within 30 years we were finding incidence of over 50% on new cases had dapsone resistance in some countries. Can anyone give me a definite answer:- has clofazimine resistance seen to develop in a patient?
Thank you
Grace Warren
