Dear Dr Noto,

In reference to the relation between leprosy and zinc, in the time mentioned by Dr Srinivasan [LML Nov. 11th, 2012], I co-advised a master degree thesis with Prof. Iris Ferrari on this matter in 91 cases in the Amazonic Region and we concluded that no significant correlation was found between the levels of serum zinc and levels of lymphocyte transformation test (LTT); a significant and inverse correlation was found for LTT and Zn in the control group.

Best regards,

Prof. Dr. Aguinaldo Gonçalves, MD, MSc, PhD
