In support of the World Health Organization (WHO) AI tool on Skin-NTDs that the WHO is further developing, the WHO is eager to receive images on leprosy and scabies and would be grateful for your input of pictures. If you are interested to contribute, please reach out to Dr. José Antonio Ruiz Postigo (postigoj@who.int).
The German Society for Tropical Medicine (DTG) has started a discussion process on the appropriateness of the term "tropical medicine" (e.g.: whether it is linked to past colonial activity) and whether a new terminology is necessary. In order to get an impression on the discussion the DTG is inviting everyone involved in tropical medicine, or working in health systems in the tropics (as geographic region), to fill out a survey. The survey is available in English, French, Spanish, and German.

NNN Conference learnings
The NTD Inclusion Score Card (NISC) Launch/Unveiling – A tool for leadership and accountability to enhance inclusion and meaningful participation of persons affected by NTDs in NGOs.
The session took participants through the NISC development process, from concept inception, funding, and development to the delivery of the final product – the NISC assessment tool. The main learning outcome of the session is that real action needs to be taken to ensure the inclusion and meaningful participation of persons affected by NTDs in policy and decision-making processes. The NISC as a tool enables this process.
If you are interested to learn more about the inception, development and piloting of this ground-breaking tool and how it can bring about real change and ensure the meaningful participation of individuals affected by NTDs in policy and decision-making processes please read the full blog here. There is a facilitator available free of cost between now and the end of December, 2023, that can support you and your organization with the assessment. The Leprosy Working Group Session on Integrated Capacity Strengthening "Experience and evidence building on effective innovative Integrated Capacity Strengthening (ICS).
The Leprosy Working Group Session organized by NLR, InfoNTD/InfoLep and ILEP in collaboration with the WHO NTD Department, was a highly interactive session around ICS aimed at taking stock of what we do, what we know, and what we still have to work on, experts shared experiences on ICS, the challenges and achievements in this, and also the needs for building evidence. There was a general consent on the need for integrated capacity strengthening in order to realizing the NTD roadmap targets.
Dr. José Postigo of the WHO-NTD Department provided information about the online training courses available on OpenWHO. In an interactive working group session participants explored the need for further development of ICS, the requirements to realize these and the roles Ministries and other organizations could play.
An interactive map was launched that shows ongoing ICS initiatives. Some key learning outcomes from the group discussions were: 1. There currently is a lack of integrated training materials at the global and local levels, and there are different training needs in different countries. 2. For successful planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of ICS there is a need for country ownership and broad participation. 3. ICS requires intensive advocacy and lobbying, and joint proposal writing to foster a cultural shift to channel resources from one NTD to multiple NTDs; 4. Multi-language is key in order to enhance accessibility and contextualization of ICS resources.

Call for Papers: Addressing the snakebite challenge - progress towards the 2030 roadmap
RSTMH are seeking submissions for a Special Issue, to be published in Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (TRSTMH), which aims to bring together research on improving the understanding of snakebites and snakebite envenoming. The deadline for submissions is the 31st of March, 2024.
Decolonising Consultancy: Full Session (September 2023)

On 21 September, 2023, INTRAC hosted an online event titled "decolonising consultancy". Four speakers shared their views on what decolonising consultancy means in practice looks like, and how it can be achieved. This full recording contains short talks from Nancy Kankum Kusi (WACSI), Rob Lloyd (Itad), Elena Gillis (Adeso), Alaa Shaheen (Beit Al Karma), and Sam Varley (Comic Relief). The event was hosted by INTRAC board member Suzanne Hammad, and the closing reflection was by INTRAC Principal Consultant Rick James.
