I'm writing on behalf of GPZL's (Global Partnership for Zero Leprosy) Emergency Working Group 2: Emergency Advocacy for Persons Affected, to submit a recent report for dissemination through the Leprosy Mailing List.
Blurb about the report:
Over the last two months GPZL's Emergency Working Group 2: Emergency Advocacy for Persons Affected, hosted regional calls with persons affected organizations and individuals to gather perspectives on their needs and challenges during the COVID-19 health crisis. Group 2 met with persons affected in South America, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific regions. Data gathered on these calls was compiled into a report that details challenges and concerns facing persons affected, covering access to health care, access to fundamental goods, access to government support, access to stable livelihoods, access to information about COVID-19, and the impact of intersecting vulnerabilities on the resiliency of persons affected.
This report is now available on the GPZL website, along with recommendations of specific actions NGO and government leaders can take to address the needs and challenges of persons affected during the COVID-19 pandemic, and an open letter on COVID-19 and leprosy addressed to UN Member States from UN Special Rapporteur Alice Cruz.
