From:  W. H. van Brakel, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Dear Salvatore,
Could you kindly circulate the following message on your list.
Summer School on Disability & Development
Join us this summer in Indonesia for the 3rd Summer School on Disability & Development!  This international, English-medium course is offered by the University of Indonesia and the Athena Institute, VU University Amsterdam to be held in Depok, West Java, from 18 June – 13 July 2012.  Fees for disabled participants are negotiable.  The course is aimed at a Master-level of study, but the problem-based learning approach used and the large quantity of scientific papers and other documents provided allows participants to study in as much depth as they desire.  A good level of fluency in both spoken and written English is required.  Detailed information is available in the attached documents (Word, PDF).  The course is about disability in general, but leprosy is often used as a model of disablement.

Video for leprosy training

Leprosy Mailing List – January 19th, 2011

Ref.:   Video for leprosy training
From: Engelhard A., Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Dear Dr Salvatore Noto,

Training large numbers health workers on a cost effective way in essential skills and knowledge is a well recognized challenge in leprosy control.

Through this message I hope to come into contact and share experiences with colleagues with experience in the (local) production and or use of film/video material. My main interest is for now, video material (not slides) meant for peripheral health workers with few or absent knowledge and skills on leprosy.

My main reference is the excellent but not so recently produced material produced by Schieffelin Institute of Health Research & Training Centre, formerly known as SLRTC Karigiri.  So far, YouTube did not produce much suitable content for me.

Thank you for your assistance!

Dear Dr Noto,

I request you to draw the attention of the readers of LML all over the world to an important scientific event which is to take place in New Delhi , India on

2-4 October 2009.

The Indian Association of Leprologists (IAL) the only academic body totally devoted to leprosy for over half a century, is holding its 27th Biennial Conference. India , which has the dubious distinction of contributing to the global leprosy burden to the maximum extent is also known for its rich heritage of scientific contributions by stalwarts in the subject. IAL represents the cream of such experts.

The conference is expected to provide a varitable scientific feast. Readers may: -

1.)

refer to the website www.indianleprologists.org or;

2.)

contact Dr (Prof.) HK Kar, Organizing Chairperson at email: hkkar_2000(at)yahoo.com
