On behalf of CIOMAL – the Order of Malta's Leprosy Relief Foundation, we are pleased to invite you to attend the side event organized during the 62nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council:

From Segregation to Justice: Addressing Historical and Continuing Human Rights Violations Against Persons Affected by Leprosy

This event is organized by CIOMAL – the Order of Malta's Leprosy Relief Foundation, in cooperation with the Permanent Missions of Japan, Brazil, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Morocco, Fiji, Kyrgyzstan and India to the United Nations Office at Geneva.

The event is co-sponsored by:  Alliance Against Leprosy (AAL), Anesvad Foundation, Franciscans International, ILEP, Raoul Follereau Foundation, Sasakawa Foundation and Zero Leprosy.

The discussion will explore how States, international organizations and persons affected by leprosy can address the legacy and continuing impacts of leprosy-related discrimination through truth, justice, reparations, memorialization and guarantees of non-recurrence. It follows the Special Rapporteur's latest report on this subject and precedes the Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur before the Human Rights Council.
