Leprosy Mailing List – October 7,  2020

Ref.:  (LML) New publications on leprosy. October, 2020

From:  Anniek Akerboom, Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Dear colleagues,

NLR India launched the innovative research project Stop the Transmission of Leprosy! On October 2nd, the first enhanced dose of post-exposure chemoprophylaxis (PEP++) was given to close contacts of leprosy patients in the two study districts Chandauli and Fatehpur. We would like to congratulate all parties involved with this great accomplishment and wish them good luck in continuing this project. Read the full news article here.

This month the WHO hosts two interesting NTD webinars. Join the following webinars on October 7th What role does disability, stigma and mental health play in achieving the NTD road map targets? and October 21st How do we tackle the skin NTDs to reach the 2030 NTD road map targets?

Infolep aims to increase its accessibility by sharing publications in multiple languages. If you come across a key publication of which you need a translated version, kindly inform us and we will try to acquire a translated version through our partners.

This monthly review consists of interesting publications on, among others, COVID-19, stigma, global epidemiology, mental wellbeing, PEP and prevention of disabilities. Enjoy the read! Feel free to contact me to receive full-text versions if these cannot be found through the Infolep portal. Also, I would be happy to assist you with literature searches.

Warm regards,

Anniek Akerboom
