Leprosy Mailing List – July 11, 2016
Ref.: (LML) Regarding ILC2006 registration transfer
From: Sheetal Amte-Karajgi, Maharashtra, India
Dear Pieter,
I had registered myself and my colleague for the International Leprosy Congress, Beijing 2016. We have two registrations with full fees paid.
However I cannot go because of some important work during the same time which we cannot avoid.
Is there anybody who wants to get the registrations from us? We shall be happy to transfer. ILC has accepted to transfer registrations to desired candidates without any additional fees.
The persons who wish to register can contact me for reimbursements.
Warm regards,
Dr. Sheetal Amte- Karajgi

Leprosy Mailing List – July 15, 2016
Ref.: (LML) The seventh Annual Berlin Genetic Association Course, the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine, Berlin, Germany, from September 5-9, 2016.
From: Suzanne M. Leal, Houston, USA
Dear Sir,
The seventh Annual Berlin Genetic Association Course will be held at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin, Germany, from September 5-9, 2016.
The goal of the course is to teach the course participants both theory and application of methods for population based association analysis, with a concentration on the analysis of exome and whole genome sequence and genotype data.
Emphasis in this course is
- on strategies for genetic mapping of complex human traits. It will include theory as well as practical exercises. The exercises will be carried out using a variety of computer programs (PLINK, GenABEL, MACH, UNPHASED, EIGENSTRAT, Variant Association Tools (VAT), SEQPower and R, etc.) and with pencil and paper. And
- on analysis of population based whole genome and exome data including genotype and sequence data.
TOPICS include: Association analysis of qualitative and quantitative traits; single marker and haplotype analysis; analysis of whole genome association study data; complex trait rare variant association analysis of next generation sequence data; data quality control for genotype and next generation sequence data; haplotype reconstruction; tagSNP selection; controlling population admixture (genomic control, principal components analysis, etc); imputing genotype data from sequence and genotype data; detecting gene x gene and gene x environmental interactions; power and sample size estimation for both genotype and rare variant data; permutation (estimating empirical p-values); and false discovery rate (FDR).
The organizers and instructors for the course are Suzanne Leal (Baylor College of Medicine) and Michael Nothnagel (University of Cologne).
For additional information, a schedule and application form please visit the course website: https://statgen.research.bcm.edu/index.php/Genassoc2016

(LML) request for advice research detection of cytokines
Leprosy Mailing List – July 14, 2016
Ref.: (LML) request for advice research detection of cytokines
From: Jingquan wang, Zhejiang, China
Dear Pieter,
Greetings from Zhejiang, China.
I intend to make a research related to the detection of the cytokines including IL-17, cell transcription factor ROR yt by Th 17 and Foxp3 and IL-10 by T regulatory cell in the skin lesions in leprosy patients, by the method of immunohistochemistry. But I have not found some paper related to the measurement of cytokines in the paraffin-embedded samples with immunohistochemistry among leprosy patients. They usually detected IL-17 in the serum by flow cytometry. I wonder if anyone detect the IL-17 in the skin lesions by immunohistochemistry? Is the detection method available now? Why there was no report related to the cytokine detection by immunohistochemistry? Is the level of IL-17,IL 10,et al in the skin lesions same with those in the serum in leprosy patients? If anyone in LML have some papers related to it, I would like to read them.
Thanks in advance and welcome any suggestions.
Best regards,
Jingquan WANG

Dear Pieter,
On behalf of the organisers of the International Leprosy Congress I am pleased to inform you that the full programme with details of all the
workshops and sessions, plenary sessions and poster sessions is now available on the Congress website:
http://ciccst.org.cn/ILC2016/index.html
There are 49 parallel oral sessions and workshops in the Scientific Programme with a structure that attempts to avoid time clashes of topic and
presenter. Please let me know if you see any possible conflicts.
Each oral presentation is 10 minutes (maximum of 10 slides) plus 5 minutes discussion and strict time keeping by chairs and presenters is essential
with over 270 papers.
We look forward to see you all in Beijing in September.
