Dr. Fátima Maroja asked me to resubmit the (corrected) introduction of extinction of
Fundhans (FUNDACAO FOR CONTROL OF HANSENIASE IN AMAZONAS).
Dear Pieter,
I am forwarding for publication in the LML of the announcement on the extinction of Fundhans (FUNDACAO FOR CONTROL OF HANSENIASE IN AMAZONAS) so that all who work with leprosy know of the occurred and reflect on the "power " of some leaders in disstructuring our work. As is known to all the Fundhans was created to work in partnership with the Fundação Alfredo da Matta (FUAM) and this has been happening since its creation in 1996 - however in January of 2019 the new director assumed the direction of Fundação Alfredo da Matta and no wanted to keep the partnership with Fundhans - bringing with it the decision of the Curator Council to close the works of Fundhans because with the loss of the partnership lost also the objectives of its creation.
So we who have worked all these years in projects with this partnership FUNDHANS/FUAM deeply regret this outcome of an institution that has always maintained serious work and support the Leprosy control program and the affected people and with dry of the disease.
