Leprosy Mailing List – June 1, 2018
Ref.: (LML) Online course on NTDs
From: Henk Eggens, Santa Comba Dão, Portugal
I would like to draw the attention of the LML readers to an online course that will be offered this fall.
From the website:
"The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) has developed the programme on Management of Skin Neglected Tropical Diseases.
Students will have update information on the epidemiology and surveillance, natural history, diagnostic and treatment strategies of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (CL), Leprosy (L), Buruli Ulcer (BU) and Yaws (Y).
Control disease aspects will also be addressed in line with the WHO regional or global frameworks for the control of the four diseases. Students will analyse and discuss strategies to implement control activities.
They will be trained on how to detect the diseases and choose the best available treatment strategies through the resolution of several clinical cases, based on real clinical life in endemic areas, so that they will obtain a strong base for prophylaxis, diagnosis and treatment. The information obtained will be useful for their daily practice.
The online course starts in October 2018 and runs until February 2019.
Study load: +/- 250 learning hours."
