Dear Pieter.

This photograph is very important one (LML, November 15, 2020), but we need to do a skin smear study to confirm ? this nodules are due to M.leprae.  If so Chimp is a good model but we are not going to get anything big (other than publication) by way of creating a vivid animal model.

Nodules are closely resembling the LL type, but we need a Histopathological evidence of AFB in Sections of tissues (Fite-Faraco staining). I may be correct , I may  be wrong but I wish to ensure ethics both human and animal models before being this study is further carried out.

I am not clear this infection is naturally infected in Chimp? A detailed study is necessary?

Interesting picture, thanks for sharing,
