Infolep is the international knowledge centre for leprosy and related subjects. Infolep facilitates access to information for anyone involved in leprosy, from researchers and students, to programe managers and field workers. Infolep is funded by one of ILEP's Members - Netherlands Leprosy Relief.
One of the main services provided by Infolep is an online reference library containing a wealth of publications and resources relating to leprosy.

ILEP has developed a range of resources to guide and assist those working in the area of leprosy, from field based health workers, to programme and senior managers.
Other useful leprosy-related publications cover a variey of important topics including rehabilitation, the prevention of disability and stigma issues.
ILEP is in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO). An important part of this partnership involves working together to publish important policy and technical resources.
The Weekly Epidemiological Report (WER) contains epidemiological data on cases and outbreaks of communicable diseases. It is by the World Health Organization in English and French.
ILEP has developed a range of technical resources to guide and assist those working in the area of leprosy, from field based health workers, to programme and senior managers. We encourage the widest possible dissemination and use of these publications.
Most ILEP publications are available in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and other languages. These publications may be downloaded free-of-cost.
In most cases, ILEP publications may also be freely translated into other languages for local use. Please contact the ILEP Technical and Information Co-ordinator for more information.
Advisory Papers
Advisory papers contain advice from the ILEP Technical Commission on topics of a more temporary nature.
Discussion Documents
Discussion documents are in the form of preliminary advice from the ILEP Technical Commission which is posted for further input. These documents are posted for a limited length of time , usually of around a few months.

ILEP Technical Guides
ILEP Technical Guides are primarily aimed at senior managers.
This booklet is recommended for all health workers who diagnose and treat leprosy, especially those at the first referral level such as a health centre. It contains more detail than the WHO Guide to Eliminate Leprosy as a Public Health Problem. The Guide gives practical advice on how to diagnose leprosy and how to give the correct treatment, and basic information on how to recognise and manage leprosy reactions.
This guide is intended for all health workers who may have to manage the complications of leprosy. It contains practical advice on how to recognise leprosy reactions and give the correct treatment. Also included is advice on referral of reactions and specialist treatment.
This book is for all health workers who may have to help people who have nerve damage to their eyes, hands and feet. It will help them to encourage patients to develop a lifetime habit of caring for nerve-damaged parts. The content of this book complements the recommendations in the Operational Guidelines* of the World Health Organization.

This guide consists of three detachable laminated A4 pages giving clear instructions as to how to carry out all the steps involved in taking a skin smear. It is a clearly presented and durable reference guide for use in the clinic or laboratory. It has been produced for health workers and laboratory staff with responsibility for taking and reading skin smears, as well as laboratory technicians who may be required to prepare the reagents.
This book offers guidance to public health managers and decision-makers at national and regional level faced with the task of integrating leprosy services into the general health system. The guide systematically describes all the steps involved in the integration process, from situation analysis and the development of a plan of action, to implementation and evaluation.
It is founded on the experience of countries that have already gone through the integration process, and aims to help ensure that the lessons learned during these experiences are applied more widely.
Social and economic rehabilitation is a unique task. The approach may not be duplicated between places or even from one person to another. These guidelines for social and economic rehabilitation have been formulated as a response to the complexities of the work.
The ILEP Technical Guide "Training in Leprosy" aims to help in developing a framework for training, and is written for those who organise, support and run training activities. It examines how leprosy training can be organised and made more effective, covering topics such as the assessment of training needs, different types of training, selecting the most effective teaching and learning methods, encouraging best practice, and evaluation.
The main objectives of leprosy control programmes are usually to cure people with leprosy, to stop transmission of the disease and to prevent disabilities. It is essential to measure progress towards the achievement of these objectives. That is why indicators are used.
This technical guide describes the strategies and tasks of CBR as the appropriate response to the needs of individuals, families and communities affected by leprosy. It will prove a useful re-orientation and familiarization tool for managers, trainers and supervisors in leprosy control or rehabilitation programmes responsible for introducing and managing CBR. It may also be used by CBR managers to include people affected by leprosy in their programmes. It describes the broad objectives of CBR, the roles and tasks of programme managers, and the responsibilities of community workers who have daily contact with people affected by leprosy, their families and community members. The guide recommends approaches reported to be effective, but avoids prescribing these methods in all situations.
