Nerve decompression seems to be out of the agenda of many leprologists.

Dear Dr. Theuvenet,

Congratulation for your very opportune comment [LML Nov. 27th, 2012; << Consider nerve decompression when other treatment fails >>].  Indeed, nerve decompression seems to be out of the agenda of many leprologists whereas this procedure should be available in any tertiary leprosy referral center.

Although recovery of motor/sensory function in selected cases is still to be fully proved, there is clear evidence in the literature that pain is markedly reduced after surgical treatment.

Many regards,

Marcos Virmond
