Nerve decompression seems to be out of the agenda of many leprologists.

Dear Dr Marcos Virmond,

Thank you very much for your mail [LML Dec. 9th, 2012].  The surgical drainage of a nerve abscess or decompression of an organised old abscess definitely reduces the pain at the site of nerve involvement.  This also reduces the referred pain in the limb.   Although the timing of surgical intervention is not fixed it does help in pain relief.  I agree with Dr Theuvenet.

Best regards,

Dr K.M.T. Kamble
