Dear Dr Narahari,

Thank you very much for your message [LML October 30th, 2012] regarding the case of a 16 years old girl complaining numbness of whole finger and little pain at the tip of the middle finger on right side.

Considering the nature of complaints: unilateral, compound muscle action potential (CMAP) of the median nerve normal on both sides, no sensory and motor deficit - it could be due to carpal tunnel syndrome.  It would be interesting to see the distal latency and velocity of nerve conduction.  If the complaints are due to carpal tunnel syndrome distal latency and velocity might show delay.

It is less likely to be leprosy if there is no patch and pure median nerve complaints without sensory deficit.

Best regards,

Karthikeyan G
